What’s new in Fortuner Neo Drive

Toyota has named this new version of Fortuner as ‘Neo Drive’. It has a 48V mild hybrid system which makes its 2.8-litre diesel engine even better. It has the same old powerful 204hp power and 500Nm torque, but now a belt-integrated starter generator and lithium-ion battery have been added to it.

Why is mild hybrid technology special

Now you must be wondering what difference will this hybrid system make? So listen – when you stop in traffic, this system automatically turns off the engine and as soon as you drive fast, the engine starts again. This saves fuel and also increases the efficiency of the car.

The Fortuner Neo Drive starts at ₹ 44.72 lakh (ex-showroom). It is around ₹ 2 lakh more expensive than its regular 4×4 AT variant. Only the GR-S model comes above the Neo Drive variant, meaning it is also placed in the premium category.
