At a time when the automobile sector is dominated by urban SUVs and crossovers, a legendary vehicle is going to make a comeback. Maruti Gypsy, which ruled the hearts of adventure lovers for decades, is returning to Indian roads in a new avatar in 2025. The biggest feature is its price, which is likely to be just Rs 8 lakh.

Riding Experience 7 Interior

The interior of the new Gypsy will be more modern and comfortable than the old model. It will have a digital instrument cluster, water-resistant seats and more space. The position of the seats will be kept high so that the driver gets better visibility.

The boot space has been made more practical and the loading space can be increased by folding the rear seats completely. At the same time, standard roof rails can be provided on the roof, so that additional luggage or adventure equipment can be easily carried.

Price

The most talked about thing is its price, which is expected to be Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). This will be much cheaper than cars like Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, which have a starting price of more than Rs 12 lakh. Maruti Suzuki has adopted many smart strategies to keep its price affordable. Its design has been kept simple and functional, which reduces the production cost.

Engine and off-roading capabilities

The new Gypsy will get a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will give a power of about 100 bhp. Due to the light body, it will not need much power. Also, a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine can also be given in the top variant, which will generate power up to 120 bhp.

This vehicle will have a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while for the first time, the option of a 6-speed automatic gearbox can also be given in it. Its 4×4 system will come with a low-range transfer case and electronic locking differential, which will enable it to cross any rough road.
