When MG Motor launched its new Windsor EV Pro in India, it created a stir in the world of electric vehicles. The company made big claims, especially about its range. It was said that this EV will run up to 449 kilometers on a single full charge. Now just imagine, if you are planning a long journey and your car does not run as per the company’s claim – how will you feel?
Features
MG Motor has added a new Pro variant to its best-selling electric car Windsor EV. It has been launched with a larger 52.9 kWh LFP battery. It is much more powerful than the standard variant. Its ex-showroom price has been kept at ₹ 17.49 lakh. The special thing is that the company was offering it at a lower price to the first 8000 customers.
Company’s claim vs reality
The company said that the Windsor EV Pro will give a range of 449 km. But when its real drive test was done, the result surprised everyone. In the test, the car was able to run only 375 km – and that too after using 99% of the battery. That means about 70 km less range was obtained.
During this time the AC of the car was on, which people usually use. Some reports also said that this car can go up to 400 km – but that too in ideal conditions.
Charging time & technology
The Windsor EV Pro comes with a 7.4kW AC charger, which takes about 9.5 hours to fully charge the battery. If you need a quick charge, there is also 60kW DC fast charging support, which charges the battery from 20% to 80% in just 50 minutes.
Design
As far as the design is concerned, the Pro variant gets some cosmetic changes. It gets newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels that seem inspired by the MG Hector SUV. nThe rest of the design remains the same as the standard variant – like split headlights, retractable flush door handles, connected LED lightbar and larger window area.
