WhatsApp is working on the new feature that work like Apple AirDrop feature to share files people nearby. This feature provide a convenient way to transfer files without having internet connection with nearby people. Go through this article to know about the WhatsApp people nearby share feature.
WhatsApp working AirDrop like feature for file sharing
Users will be able to send photos, videos, documents, and more directly to nearby people without having internet connection using with WhatsApp with this feature. Receiver need to scan a QR code generated by WhatsApp automatically on sender device, different from Android device that relies on nearby device detection.
The new AirDrop like feature is useful in such scenarios where users have poor internet connection or Wi-Fi isn’t available then they can use it to transfer their files.
As the the Meta report it may work cross platform file sharing from Android device to iOS or from iOS to Android shamelessly.
It will be interesting to see how WhatsApp integrate this file sharing feature especially on iOS where the Apple Airdrop feature is already available. But on Android, the new file sharing work similar to Samsung Quick Share feature and Google Nearby Share now integrated with Quick Share.
The people nearby file sharing feature is currently under development. But WhatsApp will soon release the AirDrop like feature for iOS beta users.
